13 Months of 2020 at Cardinal Ventures

As the 13th month of 2020 drew to a close, the Cardinal Ventures team couldn’t help feeling a bit confused. How is 2020 going on this long? Will it ever end? And…what just happened? To make sense of the madness, we wrote up the milestones of a every unusual year…

1. Launched Cardinal Ventures 2.0
   New team, new values, and new remit. Read more here about 2020's brand new CV!
2. Record Applications!
   12.5% acceptance rate for the Spring cohort? They clearly hadn’t seen our Instagram…
3. The Pivot
   With the outbreak of Coronavirus, we pivoted to a virtual Fall program and supported our cohort through the spring and summer. That meant new initiatives like a CV Internship Program*, virtual check-ins, summer mentorship, and extended access from our incredible resource partners, like AWS, HubSpot, and Foundernest.

4. Alumni Roundup
   In the past 6 years, we incubated 130+ companies that have raised $366M+ in funding. Wowza!
5. Launched College Ventures
   It turns out, a lot of folks in the US and beyond are incubating awesome student startups! Shouldn’t we talk? Shhh…! This one’s still on the DL. But if you’re a university accelerator that wants in, we want to meet you.
6. Community.
   If this one crazy year has taught us anything, it’s that this work is all about community. Thank you to the sponsors, partners, mentors, speakers, and supporters that make CV what it is.
   And thank you to our rockstar Cardinal Ventures Spring 2020 Cohort! 13 companies solving problems from Construction and Semiconductors to Travel and DevTools — $366M never looked so small. To bigger numbers, but mostly a bigger tent.
