Meet Bella — a third year Stanford student, rower, computer scientist and the newest member of Cardinal Ventures. Last week, we had a conversation with Bella and we are excited to share some of the insights we learned! A bit about her…

Major: Computer Science, AI Track

Hobbies: Rowing, running & cooking

Hometown: Seattle

Languages: Spanish and English

Why did you decide to major in Computer Science?

Bella had always wanted to major in BioChem, just like her father. However, after taking AP Computer Science in high school, she was immediately hooked. After the class, Bella participated in a Microsoft Emerging Students in Computer Science Internship (while she was still in HS!) She came to Stanford knowing she wanted to major in CS. Her Freshman summer she worked at Facebook as a Software Engineer and had the opportunity to present her team’s app to Mark Zuckerberg. That same summer, she also rowed a lot. Her Sophomore summer, she was convinced by her coach to join the national rowing team; therefore, she decided to take a quarter off to still work at Facebook. Bella spent her junior fall quarter in Facebook NYC in the Recruiting Product Application Infrastructure.

Why did you decide to apply & join Cardinal Ventures?

Bella says she has done a lot of “big company things.” This year, she decided she wanted to try something new by learning more about entrepreneurship. She said: “I thought CV would be a great way to step into the entrepreneurial space, see what ideas people on campus had and how they approached entrepreneurial life on campus.”

Do you want to be an entrepreneur?

Bella never realized she could be an entrepreneur since a young age. However, being in a place like Stanford opens your eyes to the world of opportunities for young people in the entrepreneurial space. Being surrounded by such entrepreneurial people has definitely inspired her, and she wants to explore this further with CV.

What has been your favorite experience in CV so far?

“I really like how fast CV goes.” According to Bella, it’s amazing to realize that there are only 5 students running the whole show, and that you are one of them. Of course, it can be stressful, but if you are passionate about it, you can make time in your schedule. She is looking forward to meeting new people and entrepreneurs through the program!

We all loved meeting Bella during the interview process; we believe she is a great value add to our team and we look forward to see all the wonderful things she accomplishes. Welcome Bella!
